SafeStatus® SmartBadge User Terms
SAFESTATUS® SMARTBADGE USER TERMS
Version 1.0
Effective Date: July 27, 2026
Please read this before pairing your SmartBadge. You'll need to accept it to continue.
In an emergency, call 911
Your SmartBadge is not a replacement for 911. It does not contact police, fire, or paramedics. Castatus does not monitor alerts and does not send responders. When you press the button, an alert goes to people your employer has chosen. Whether anyone sees that alert, and how they respond, is up to your employer, not Castatus.
It is not a medical device
The SmartBadge does not detect falls, injuries, or any medical condition, and it will not summon medical help.
It only works if it is set up correctly
For your badge to send an alert, all of the following must be true:
- The badge is paired to this phone
- The SafeStatus app is installed and setup is complete
- Bluetooth is turned on
- Location and notification permissions are allowed
- The app is allowed to run in the background
Open the app to confirm your badge shows as connected. If you get a new phone or reinstall the app, you must complete setup and pair again. Otherwise your badge will not work.
Keep your phone with you and charged
If your phone is off, out of Bluetooth range, in airplane mode, or in battery-saver mode, your badge cannot send an alert.
Watch your badge battery
The app shows your badge's battery level and when it was last seen. Tell your employer right away if your badge is low, disconnected, damaged, or lost.
Alerts can fail or be delayed
Cell and Wi-Fi coverage, GPS accuracy, phone settings, operating system updates, and services run by other companies all affect whether an alert is sent, how quickly it arrives, and how accurate the location is. Location may be inaccurate or unavailable indoors, underground, or inside a vehicle.
Your location is shared only when you send an alert
Castatus does not track where you are at other times. The app asks for background location permission so it can include your location the moment you press the button. Your phone may occasionally notify you that the app used your location in the background. That is the permission working, not ongoing tracking.
It is a tool, not a guarantee
The SmartBadge is one part of your employer's safety program. It cannot prevent an incident and cannot guarantee that anyone will respond. Always keep another way to call for help.
Questions about who receives your alerts, or what response to expect, should go to your employer. Your use of the SafeStatus app and SmartBadge is also subject to the Castatus Terms of Use.
